Colleagues from Japan report on their study tour of the UK – a short video

For over two years, a group of medical educators from Japan and the UK have met regularly online as a Think Tank to foster the development of narrative practice and “Conversations Inviting Change” in Japan. The group has included Professor Machiko Inoue from Hamamatsu University Medical School, Professor Joanne Reeve from Hull/York Medical School, and Diana Kelly and John Launer from the Association of Narrative Practice in Healthcare (ANPH).

In October 2024, a group of Japanese members led by Professor Inoue spent a week in the UK as guests of Hull/York Medical School for dialogue and shared learning about medical generalism, and then came to London for a visit to an inner city GP practice and the Royal College of General Practitioners, followed by a study day on “Conversations Inviting Change” hosted by ANPH. One member of the visiting group, Michiko Abe, has now complied a wonderful short video summarising the visit. To watch it, click here.
